SHOW SHOW

With a broad artistic gesture, SHOW SHOW casts concepts such as empowerment, self-staging and selfoptimisation into the exhibition space and brings to question exclusivity of artistic creation as well as authority and expertise in art. In recent decades, the DIY movement has become increasingly influential in digital culture as well as in the art scene. The democratisation of artistic processes can no longer be denied; online resources and tutorials in all areas are a reality.

The exhibition scratches the surface of this supposed democratisation of art production through DIY and tutorials and humorously questions the dogmas of authority and expert knowledge in art production. DIY was once a punk movement, clearly positioned against commercialisation and in favour of democratic participation. By comparison, the majority of today’s DIY endeavors have been completely commercialised. SHOW SHOW makes these contradictions a subject and object of artistic exploration.

And then, the world wakes up, it begins to pay attention to itself. It walks down a city street and
notices the grey tiles, the cigarette butts, the dog shit and the pavement weeds. There’s glass between
that shiny floor of it, it is complicit with law and order. It breaks no windows.
The girl next to me is fidgeting with a Kleenex: She is wearing big headphones, I forgot mine in the
locker outside the library. I’m typing on the keyboard, her hands are occupied with the tissue paper.
She utilises that Kleenex to wipe off dust and dirt from her MacBook charger. It makes a subtle, but
very dry, screeching sound. I look at her and look at her and then she looks back at me.

 Nice Connection

duo show by Nora Langen and Carlotta Lösch-Will

Opening: 17.3.2023  6 pm
Exhibition: 18.3.-27.3.2023

Opening hours: Saturdays 12-5 pm
Volkertplatz 8, 1020 Vienna

In the exhibition NICE CONNECTION Nora Langen and Carlotta Lösch-Will draw on biographical and associative elements of their relationship and develop an interpersonal mythology. This installation creates a space inhabited by a modern fairy tale that consists of moments and anxieties simultaneously present and past.
The collaboration manifests through reflection on connection, intertwined personal growth, shared inspiration and the resulting sense of grounding.
It is a fragmentary archive of recollections that is omnipresent yet ever-changing along with the fluctuating flavours of fears and desires. The objects are secret clues to a fairy tale of ultimate beauty.

Nicoleta Auersperg, Mara Novak, Anne Clara Stahl, Paul Schuseil, Dorothea Trappel & Marit Wolters
 Opening: Friday 19.11.2021 5 - 9pm
Exhibition: 19th November - 16.th January 2022

Opening hours:
Saturday & Sunday 20. + 2. November 2021 3-  6pm
and by appointment

Two rooms, an outward-facing showcase and an inward-facing exhibition room, are connected by a doorway in the wall.  The artists Nicoleta Auersperg, Mara Novak,  Anne-Clara Stahl, Paul Schuseil, Dorothea Trappel, and Marit Wolters took this spatial arrangement as an opportunity to reflect on transformation, variation, relation and repetition in their own practice. The exhibition „Down the Rabbit Hole“ invites you to understand artistic work as a process that enables open-ended thinking and creating free from purposive characteristics. The result always depends on the decisions made along the way, which are often tied to the respective context and cannot be foreseen in advance. And yet, in the end, the individual steps line up to form a clear path that leads to the achievement of a goal. It doesn't matter which way you go, as long as you get SOMEWHERE.

None of These Things

Antonia Freisburger, Pia Krajewski, Antonia Rodrian
 Opening: October 8th  6 pm - 9 pm
Exhibition: 9th October - 3rd November 2021

Opening hours:
Sat & Sun October 9th & 10th 17 - 20 pm
And by appointment

The exhibition "None of These Things" shows paintings by Antonia Freisburger, Pia Krajewski and Antonia Rodrian and deals with the line between observation and fiction. While Freisburger's paintings have their origin in the pure unkown, the imagination of other spheres, unearthly materials and untouchable universes, Rodrian's paintings seem to show the opposite: precise objects and human acts. The core of Krajewski's paintings as well appears to be located in earthly realms. She depicts details of surfaces and objects - unclear if made by humans or nature. However, in the works of all three painters reality does not rule over imagination.

Exhibition explores the wellness-driven lifestyle culture and proposes its critical inquiry within ethics, economics and ecology. A marketing strategy of ‘green fashion’ promotes natural beauty and going back to basics - yet the artificiality of sustaining this lifestyle in an urban, commercial context makes it a luxury and a status symbol. Three artistic positions on the crossover between photography, visual and media art explore this phenomenon through a connecting theme of water.

Stafett is an unstable situation, a contagion, and accepts inevitable influences and potential thefts between and within closely aligned artistic practices. As a continual loop of sharing between four artists, they attempt to re-define each others works, blurring the lines that define a practice or individual positions within a show or as psychological supports in a exhibiting concept.
